PRODUCT UPDATE

Product update: PDF table calculations, source review, and editable A4 reports

Open PDFs on the canvas, review cited source pages, calculate readable table data, download Excel files, and turn document analysis into an editable A4 report.

DIRECT ANSWER

SKAND's PDF reader can show tables from readable pages, calculate totals, averages, and grouped results, and export CSV, Excel, or data with source information. You can explicitly ask the agent to turn your analysis into an A4 report, edit its text, tables, and source notes, then export PDF and editable PPTX. Citations can also reveal source excerpts so you can check the answer against the original page.

Open the file and choose what to analyze

Upload or drop PDF/PPTX files onto the canvas, up to 25 MB each. Original PDFs open in the browser without waiting for OCR. PDFs support up to 100 pages and presentations up to 60 slides. Uploading and browsing are free; model analysis uses the existing conversation pricing.

State the question and page range in chat, such as comparing two budget options on pages 2–4. Access to original PDFs, page images, or extracted text depends on the selected model's verified capabilities. The system discloses the actual reading scope and limits when the file is too long or the evidence is incomplete.

Keep source evidence beside the answer

Page citations return to the original document or an available page preview and can reveal excerpts actually supplied to the model. Text questions reuse readable text; visual questions read pages within the model's capabilities and authorized range.

Scanned pages without readable text keep that state. Model observations, OCR, and extracted text remain distinct. A valid citation confirms that the model received page evidence; checking the original still matters when assessing its conclusion. Original files remain subject to owner and project permissions.

Check the source numbers before calculating

The reader's table panel provides calculations and downloads. Recognized values support totals, averages, minima, maxima, and grouping. Explicit total and subtotal rows are excluded to prevent double counting. Different units are not combined, and truncated tables cannot produce a complete total.

Download CSV, Excel, source-bearing JSON, or eligible SVG charts. Downloads and deterministic calculations do not call a model or incur an additional charge; document conversations still have model costs. Merged cells, irregular columns, and unclear digits need review. Numbers guessed during visual observation cannot enter these calculations.

Turn reviewed analysis into a report

Explicitly ask for an A4 report with source page references. SKAND creates an editable draft whose paragraphs, tables, source notes, and reading limitations can be revised directly or through follow-up chat.

Reports use portrait A4 pages, support up to 12 pages, and export to PDF and editable PPTX. Dense tables need splitting, and complex layouts need review after export. Reports may cite evidence actually read or retained in a source snapshot; they cannot invent support from unread pages.

Structure extraction for newly uploaded files

New PDF uploads can extract text blocks and positions in the background to help organize simple columns and tables. Existing documents retain their previous reading results; upload the original again when you need the new structure information. Scanned pages still require available visual or OCR capabilities.

Check headers, units, and calculation scope before asking the agent to write conclusions. Source review and table downloads help you inspect a report, but do not automatically verify every statement in it.
